The National Museums The National Museums of the Ministry of Culture offer a large range of culture and leisure resources that are close and accessible to the population. Through an extensive programme of activities, based on a vision of the museums as institutions committed to society, it encourages the use and enjoyment of heritage that belongs to everyone. .
Planned Activities Extension of opening hours, night-time opening, concerts, dancing, workshops, cinema, conferences, guided tours, competitions, theatre, audio-visual screenings, free entry... National Museums organise events under the lemma "The Day" and "The Night" with a wide range of activities that invite the population to rediscover their collections..
International Museum Day Since 1997, The International Museum Day has been held on 18 May. The lemma chosen this year is "Museums and Universal Heritage". Through a programme of multiple activities, the aim is to promote access to the museum's collections and with this demonstrate the close relationship between cultural diversity and universal heritage. .
Night of the Museums The Night of the Museums is held on 19 May. More than 2,000 museums from all over Europe will contribute to the illumination of the cultural scene of our old continent by opening their doors throughout the night. On this night different activities are planned, all of them spurred on by the same festive spirit. .
