Museums taking part

The planning of activities and events carried out by the National Museums is particularly noteworthy due to its plurality and diversity. They included activities that target all social strata, enabling them to have an offer that is dynamic and capable of catering for the tastes of a wide range of audiences.

Throughout the year, visitors to the museums can enjoy workshops, exhibitions, conferences, courses, concerts and visits. Programmes designed for children, youths, families and experts... Furthermore, all National Museums come together for special activities that, under one lemma, offer visitors extended opening hours and an extensive programme of special activities during the periods of Christmas, Easter, summer, International Day or the Night of the Museums.  . In this way, during the month of May museums are the stars of two international events, International Day and the Night of the Museums, which endeavour to bring these institutions closer to society in a recreational and festive manner.

It is essential to reinforce the link established between museums and society in order to promote the museum's identity with citizens and the collections they hold in custody. It is through this link between the institution and the public that the concept of a collective ownership of the cultural assets that make up the collections of National Museums acquires it significance.
