Awards

Writers, plastic artists, performers, actresses, dancers, researchers..., year after year more women see their work acknowledged with the awards given by the Ministry of Culture.

Numerous literary prizes have been awarded to women: 2 women have received the Cervantes Prize, the most prestigious prize for literature in Spanish language; 3, National Spanish Literature Awards; 13, National Literature Awards in all categories: fiction, essay, children's and young people's literature; 1, National History of Spain Award and there have been 7 female prize-winners for their translation work.

Women also stand out in stage and musical arts: 13 National Dance Awards; 5 Music Awards; 14 National Theatre and Circus Awards.

Women have also made their mark in cinema: 5 National Cinematography awards have been won by women in recent years.

The 4 National Fine Arts and Photography Awards and the 4 Cultural Asset Restoration and Conservation Awards won by women also give an idea on their progress in the fine arts world.

In these and other cultural fields, such as artistic binding and cultural research, women are becoming more and more recognised every day.
