The conference is held to provide information on the process of digitalising European film theatres and discuss the challenges, especially, for the independent exhibition. Its aims include:

• To exchange points of view between involved agents.
• To highlight the importance of adopting an appropriate calendar for this process
• To provide public authorities with valuable decision making tools

The format of the conference sessions is designed to foster participation. An interactive computerised system will enable a fluent exchange of interventions among the attendees.

The conference is organised by the Institute of Cinematography and the Visual Arts of the Ministry of Culture, co-sponsored by the European Commission and with the collaboration of the Catalan Institute for Cultural Industries and Barcelona City Council.
