Technical Cooperation Committees of the Library Cooperation Council

Pursuant to Article 5 of chapter II of the Library Cooperation Council Regulations, in addition to its role in the Plenary and Permanent Committee, the Library Cooperation Council also participates in technical cooperation committees. There are five of these which correspond to different types of libraries:

  • Technical Cooperation Committee for the Spanish National Library and the National and Regional Libraries of the Autonomous Communities
  • Technical Cooperation Committee for Public Libraries
  • Technical Cooperation Committee for School Libraries
  • Technical Cooperation Committee for University Libraries
  • Technical Cooperation Committee for Specialised Libraries

Duties:

  • To propose lines of work and coordinate initiatives between the different administrations and institutions related to the classification of libraries related to each committee, which shall be promoted and supported within the framework of the Library Cooperation Council.
  • To agree the creation of any working groups deemed appropriate for matters relating to the classification of libraries for which each committee is responsible.
  • To monitor the working groups belonging to each committee.
  • To raise at the Permanent Committee, upon prior agreement, the results of projects and agreements adopted by the corresponding working groups.
  • To propose to the Permanent Committee the creation of mixed working groups for devising and undertaking lines of work of joint interest to the different types
    of libraries.
  • To propose to the Permanent Committee all types of proposal to be considered by the Plenary Session of the Council related to the classification of libraries for which each committee is responsible.
  • To monitor agreements and plans carried out by the corresponding ministries and the autonomous communities relating to public libraries
